Oklahoma completes 2007 schedule
NORMAN, Okla. (AP) - Oklahoma finalized its football schedule for the 2007 season on Tuesday, featuring the beginning of a home-and-home series with Miami and a trip up the turnpike to play at Tulsa.
The Sooners will start the season with three straight home games and won't leave the state until they begin Big 12 play with a trip to Colorado on Sept. 29.
For the second time in five years, North Texas will come to Norman for the season opener on Sept. 1. Oklahoma beat the Mean Green 37-3 in its 2003 season opener.
The following week, Oklahoma and Miami meet for the first time since the 1987 Orange Bowl. The Sooners and Hurricanes are also scheduled to play Sept. 12, 2009, in Miami.
Oklahoma completes its nonconference schedule with a home game against Utah State on Sept. 15 and a road game at Tulsa on Sept. 22. Oklahoma last played at Tulsa in 2002. The teams are also scheduled to play in Norman in 2009 and 2011.
``These games fit our philosophy of providing a challenging, yet balanced schedule that prepares our team for the rigors of Big 12 Conference play and a run at post season championships,'' athletic director Joe Castiglione said in a statement.
The annual Oklahoma-Texas game in Dallas will be played Oct. 6, and the Bedlam game against Oklahoma State on Oct. 27 will begin a second three-game homestand for the Sooners. Texas A&M and Baylor come to Norman the next two weeks, and Oklahoma concludes its season at Texas Tech on Nov. 17.
Oklahoma also plays a home game at Missouri on Oct. 13 and at Iowa State on Oct. 20.
