Default Bad news for Louisville

Louisville could lose Jenkins for year with broken leg
Associated Press

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Brandon Jenkins, a starting senior guard for Louisville, will miss at least three months after he suffered a broken leg during a pickup game on Friday, coach Rick Pitino said.

Jenkins fractured his right fibula and also suffered a high ankle sprain.

Pitino said Jenkins, who started every game for the Cardinals last year, could miss the entire season.

"We are hoping Brandon makes a full recovery soon," Pitino said. "We will closely watch his progress and if he is not healthy within three months, we will strongly consider redshirting him this season."

A 6-foot-3 guard from Detroit, Jenkins averaged 11.2 points, nearly three assists and led the team with 54 steals.

I like them also. The 54 steals is a big loss for them. Hope he heals fast, they were supposed to be alot better this year.

Louisville guard Andre McGee hospitalized following dehydration

August 25, 2006

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) -- Louisville sophomore guard Andre McGee was hospitalized for two days after becoming dehydrated during an individual workout.

McGee was participating in an individual workout on Tuesday when he passed out on the court, coach Rick Pitino said on his Web site. The Cardinals were practicing in preparation for a trip to Canada next month for three exhibition games against Canadian collegiate teams at the time of McGee's collapse.

"He was totally dehydrated before working out," Pitino wrote. "We kept him in the hospital to run every test known to man on him."

McGee was released from the hospital on Thursday and was expected to return to practice Thursday afternoon, Pitino said.

"He has a hydration problem we really need to stay on top of," Pitino wrote. "Even when he's not necessarily thirsty, we've got to keep him hydrated."

McGee averaged 5.5 points and 2.1 assists in 33 games for the Cardinals last season.
