Default ACC Preview

Predicted Order of Finish:

1. North Carolina
2. Duke
3. Boston College
4. Georgia Tech
5. Maryland
6. Florida State
7. Virginia Tech
8. Virginia
9. Clemson
10. NC State
11. Wake Forest
12. Miami

Notes:

The ACC this year is the deepest and possibly the best conference in college basketball (the SEC is very good as well). The top 8-9 teams in my predictions should all be thinking "Big Dance" this year. How many actually get it will remain to be seen.

Watch Duke, even though they lost 2 All-Americans in Redick and Williams they will be much more athletic this year. Josh McRoberts should take the next step this year as he will be a bigger part of the offense. Incoming freshman G/F Gerald Henderson Jr. is one of the most athletically gifted players in all of college basketball and will provide some highlight dunks, he's also more polished than most people of his athletic ability at the same stage.

I also expect Maryland to get back on track this year. They have a lot veteran players and I fully expect them to make a lot of noise this year.

The freshman talent in the conference this year is unheard of. North Carolina had a consensus top 2 recruiting class landing studs F Brandan Wright, G Tywon Lawson, G Wayne Ellington (who I've seen personally and is VERY VERY good). Duke brings in Gerald Henderson Jr. and 5-star C Brian Zoubek.
Georgia Tech has 2 consensus top 10 players in F Thaddeus Young and G Javaris Crittenton.

Darkhorse: Georgia Tech. Though I don't think there is a chance that anyone other than North Carolina wins the ACC this year. Georgia Tech returns a lot of key players and adds 2 McDonald's All-American Studs in PG Javaris Crittenton and F Thaddeus Young.

My All Conference Team:

G - Sean Singletary (jr.) - Virginia
G - D.J. Strawberry (sr.) - Maryland
F - Jared Dudley (sr.) - Boston College
F - Tyler Hansbrough (so.) - North Carolina
C - Josh McRoberts (so.) - Duke

Player of the Year:
F Tyler Hansbrough - North Carolina

Newcomer of the year:
G/F Gerald Henderson Jr. - Duke

Newcomers to Watch:

North Carolina F Brandan Wright and Guards Wayne Ellington and Tywon Lawson.

Duke G/F Gerald Henderson Jr. and C Brian Zoubek.

Georgia Tech F Thaddeus Young and G Javaris Crittenton.

Predicting 1-12 is REALLY tough. What I can tell you is that Miami will more than likely finish in the bottom 4 of the conference. I think I may have gave Wake and NC State too much credit.

If I get half the teams in the correct slot, ESPN should probably hire me lol. But what I can say is that I'll do a pretty good job of picking the area of the conference where the team finishes.
