Default What is the most memorable sports moment?

So what's the most memorable sports moment you've witnessed, either live or on TV?

I was in Paris during the World Cup 1998 and watched it just outside Saint-Denis (there were no more tickets )
It was great to see the French cheering for their team and screaming like crazy when they scored. Then it was very interesting to walk in Champs Elysees and watching the French team talking with ordinary ppl in the street. I still have pics

Well.. the only important tourney here is Dubai Tennis Open, but I can't say that one of the matches was particularly memorable (I've watched all the finals since 2002).
On TV... Yes, 1998 finals, why not.. I was glued to my screen =))

For me, it happened in the third quarter of Super Bowl XXXII. With the game tied at 17, and the Broncos facing third-and-six on the Packers 12 yard line, Elway dropped back to pass, couldn't find anyone open, so took off running. As he neared the first down marker, instead of heading to the sideline, hopeful of getting to the sticks, he turned upfield. LeRoy Butler's eyes lit up, and he ducked his head and lowered his shoulder looking to just destroy Elway. Instead, Elway put to use his self-described "three inch vertical leap" to try to jump Butler. He ended up getting hit in the legs by Butler, thus spinning him around, just as he got hit by another Packer defender - making for the memorable "helicopter play" - it sent him spinning through the air, landing at the 4 yard line for a first down.
Shannon Sharpe said after he saw that and then saw Elway get up, pumping his fist, he said "It's on." He knew at that moment that they had to, and were going to, win.
Just thinking of the play still sends chills down my spine just like it did when I watched it happen. I knew that was the beginning of the end of the Broncos being known as a team who could never win the big game. I knew they would win....and they did.

that was awesome..

Although I think the game that got me the most excited and pumped was strangely a that I didnt like either teams. The end of the Michigan/Nebraska game in the Alamo Bowl that was a great ending although it would have been better if he scored.....

I've watched clips of the imaculate reception that would have been great to watch that live. Mark McGuire , Sammy Sosa homerun race of 98' i believe that was a nice summer ,

C'mon people!

USC v. Texas this year. I mean what an ending! Nothing better in football. Sadly my team lost, but still a great game!
