Hugh Nicol being forgotten as a record holder
In 1887 Hugh Nicol stole 138 bases.....many must have forgotten this record or maybe it is just ESPN that doesnt want to think that Rickey Henderson is acually second with his 130 bases....This pisses me off alot acually. About a week ago ESPN through together a rank em poll for coolest non-homer records....There Rickey was getting credit for being first for a single season stolen bases . Did they even mention anything about modern day record or mention that Nicol stole 138 bases in 1887 , HELL NO , well today they have a article for espn insiders who has the best chance at the 10 record and once again Rickey got credit for 1st place . Do these writers even care to look back at history ? Oe do they think just because it happened Pre -1900 ...It didnt happen ? I dont know what the case may be but I needed to get this off my chest ....now im not taking anything away from Rickey he was the best base stealer of all time and to rack up 130 in a season and to rack up 1406 over your career thats something to step back and say " WOW" , but to be given credit where you havent accomplished it is just wrong . Im suprised this hasnt brought up before or has it and ppl decided they wanted Henderson not Nicol the Single Season Stolen Base Leader
