Default Swimming - how to? (techniques)

Well, I need to swim 400m in about 7 minutes... It's like a test in my sports club. The problem is that... I just cannot do it, although I am physically strong, don't have overweight etc.

Perhaps there are some techniques that could help me?
Thanks in advance.

It's not easy to explain, but all you need to do is be regular, i.e. breath (for example) every three seconds, become a living clock - the same time between every move.
You say that you are physically strong, but as far as I know 7 minutes is a good time for an amateur. Jogging everyday helps, as well as exercices with dumbles.

Yay we are in my domain. First proper forrm . Learn it. Front stroke is best. Try to breath every 4 strokes if not then 3 if not then 2 if not then get outta my pool. Put your head down in the water ! Do flip turns the drastically increase time. Shave . And where a drag suit if you can. Don't save all your energy for last. Allthough if your not on a swim team 7 mins can be kinda challenging. I never did the 400m but I can do a 200 m in about 2:20 So......Good luck....

For a 200 m ? How is that possible ? YOu mean 500 m ? A good rule of thumb is you should be swimming as fast as someone walking . Errr maybe to start out a slow walk. Keep at it.
