US Open qualifiers so far
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- England's Ian Poulter and Canadian Tour player Benjamin Hayes each shot 13-under 131 over 36 holes on Monday to headline the pro-laden Ohio sectional qualifier for next week's U.S. Open at Winged Foot.
Twelve players were involved in a playoff for the 21st and final qualifying spot from the field of 144 players at the par-72 Lakes and Brookside golf clubs. There were 31 players playing for two spots at nearby Double Eagle Golf Club.
Other touring pros who earned the chance to tee it up at Winged Foot include Woody Austin, Bo Van Pelt, Jeff Sluman, Camilo Villegas and Jay Haas.
So far so good. I am not yet surprised by this list. We will see who else qualifys.
