Default Gerry McNamara returning

The star from Syracuse that went undrafted will leave his contract from Olympiakos B.C( A greek team) and will give up 200k to go play in for Bakersfield Jam(NBA Development Leage Team) where he will earn a prorated salary of 18k . I hope he gets a shot in the NBA he deserves it . I was talking to some NBA fan where he said his game doesnt fit well for the NBA I disagree and cant wait to see him in the pros if he gets a shot.

You're friend is absolutely correct: Gerry McNamara is not an NBA caliber talent. Maybe he'll make it, but only as a Paul Shirley 12th man type role. He'd only be brought in to shoot threes...and even guys already in the NBA like that (Jason Kapono, Matt Frejie, Damon Jones, Kyle Korver) are far, FAR more talented then McNamara in having an overall better set of skills, understanding of the game, and athletic ability. Gerry McNamara was a talented, but in no way shape or form dominant college basketball player, and there are about 20382103892032 guys from NCAA and Euroleague ball that deserve a shot over Gerry in the NBA.

I also think it is not the smartest move to give up 200,000 dollars to play on what's basically one of the "New York Yankees" type franchises in Europe, and pick up invaluable experience towards learning a more team oriented, smart kind of basketball...to make 18,000 dollars a year so you can get more playing time on crappy NBDL team. He should have waited the year out and see if he could crack the rotation in Greece.

Well time will tell , but I think one of the biggest reasons he came back was Gerry wanted to get playing time . Only 30 seconds in 5 games overseas. He should went to like CBA right off the bat , A few familars were drafted but then lost track of them . Like the Pittsburgh Xplosion drafted Jai Lewis , Carl Krauser , Kevin Pitsnogle. But when I went to check stats only Pittsnogle had any , but atleast he would have been in semi-pro league or maybe its a pro league dont really know. Plus im sure he doesnt care about money right now he has a degree to fall back on if his basketball career goes nowhere .
