I think the biggest problem is that Sportssession was founded when ASM still looked somewhat legal, and with supposed thousands of members there, the question of where to recruit people from was not an issue. Plus, the ability to discuss trading strategies here (back then not allowed at ASM) would've been incentive enough for the "thousands" to come here.
Unfortunately, as we all know, things turned out different and, don't worry, I'm not gonna start a thread on this here but the consequence was that the targeted userbase vanished and that Slinger had to rely on "old-school marketing" for his site, which is probably damn difficult given the broad range of existing sports forums. Plus, since this turned out to be the only place where people could discuss the truth (or as we perceive it) about ASM, it was kinda inevitable that this section had to be preserved for the sake of saving people's money.
Now, taking also Mr Twister's arguments from an outsider's pov into account, here's a suggestion for how things could maybe improve also:
right now, the ASM section is the second section from the top; we should re-arrange that and move it down to the bottom so that the ASM section does not appear to be the most important section here but only an addition to the sports talk. We could also include other sports betting/investing sites and turn this into a general sports investing section so that the focus is generalized a bit (though the latter idea would need some elaboration on how to arrange the section).
As for copyright infringements or something, I don't think we have a problem here, do we? I mean, the graphics are done by the moderators of this forum, so, unless I'm missing something..??
Another issue maybe: some (or even many?) of the ASM users here are international members, so, at least for me, it's kinda hard to participate in up-to-date discussions since I usually get the latest info from the Web, from video clips, etc. but there are almost no US sports on TV here, so I'm more into "European" sports and winter sports and soccer obviously and all that, and I would assume that others have the same issue, whereas American users here can probably make less use of the soccer talk, so, I don't have any suggestions here but that's just an observation why things are maybe slow in some sections..
Oh and yes, contests or something would probably help also.. I'm not necessarily talking about cash prices but - and that's just me - I consider ordinary sports talk a lot of empty blabla unless something is at stake or something adds some spice to the whole conversation (even if it's just your reputation that you know your sports), if you know what I mean. But that's really just me.. others probably like to hear themselves talk and don't need extra incentives, so... just a thought..
