Hey Slinger, here's the latest ASM delay tactic:
I received a withdrawal check in the mail. Sent from Doral, FL. What is bizarre is that the check is written in Spanish. Oh well, I figure, a check is a check in any language.
WRONG! My bank explains that they cannot process a check made out to a U.S. account if it is not in English. I proceed to argue with my bank for about 10 minutes on this point. I say that it has an account and routing number on the bottom, just deposit it.
They call up their Head of Retail Banking that supports this story and explains that it is a Federal Reserve regulation that checks presented for deposit or payment at a U.S. bank must be written out in English. They even cited the regulation to me.
I had no idea, but I'm sure ASM did. So I have no choice but ask them to reissue a withdrawal. I'm sure this pushes me back another 3 months. Their scamming ways know absolutely no end. I can't believe these people.
Anyone else have this experience? How did you resolve it? Is my bank just being too strict in following this rule? Or is this the latest ASM delay tactic in paying anyone?
